The essentials of playing Samurai Sudoku

Try Samurai Sudoku at your own pace and keep its objective in view. Complete five overlapping Sudoku boards. Every shared cell must satisfy both boards that use it. Look at what changes after your first action. Choose a comfortable screen position before beginning. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

This collection contains 4 puzzles. Progress is saved in this browser. The same puzzle can appear again; the collection is not labelled with calibrated difficulty levels.

Take a closer look while playing

Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart. Refer to the controls when needed.

Your goal

Complete five overlapping Sudoku boards. Every shared cell must satisfy both boards that use it. Read that aim before choosing your first action. Take a moment to understand the current position.

The playing sequence

  1. Select an editable cell.
  2. Enter a value using the keypad or keyboard; Notes stores candidates.
  3. Read the region, cage, arrow or outside clues alongside the normal constraints.
  4. Check entries verifies the completed board; Undo reverses your last input.
  5. New puzzle selects another included puzzle.

Input guidance

Click or tap cells and the digit pad. Use Notes, Undo and Reveal selected. Large boards scroll inside the game. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Look at the feedback after the action.

Try this example

One value entered in an overlap serves two boards, so check the corresponding rows, columns and boxes of both. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Verify the rule before continuing.

A useful caution

A full board must obey every extra rule. Reveal supplies assistance; it is not an earned deduction. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart.
