Rules, controls and help for Air Hockey
Choose a round of Air Hockey and settle into its rules. Score seven goals before the computer. Use the example below to understand a decision. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions.
Move your paddle against a computer opponent and score through the opposite goal.
Practice beyond the first move
Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board. Use the example to check your reasoning.
What you are aiming for
Score seven goals before the computer. Read that aim before choosing your first action. The example below illustrates a decision.
Making your moves
- Start.
- Move your mallet within the lower half.
- Strike toward the upper goal.
- Goals reset the puck.
Your inputs
Mouse/touch movement or Left/Right controls. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Avoid pressing the same control repeatedly while a move is being processed.
A useful example
An angled hit can bank off a side wall. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Look for the relevant detail.
Check this before moving on
You cannot move into the computer’s half. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Choose one rule to keep in mind for this round. Apply it consistently rather than guessing what another version might allow.
