Match Three: from controls to your first round

Start Match Three by looking at the playing area and its controls. Score 900 points in twenty-five moves. Look at what changes after your first action. Treat the first round as a chance to learn the controls. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions.

8×8 board, move budget, cascades and no-legal-move handling.

Build familiarity through play

Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board. Notice the feedback after each input.

Your objective

Score 900 points in twenty-five moves. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Notice how the game responds to your input.

The playing sequence

  1. Swap adjacent pieces to make a line of three or more.
  2. Matched pieces disappear.
  3. Falling pieces can trigger cascades.
  4. Reach the target before running out of moves.

Choosing and moving on screen

Tap adjacent cells. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Read the example below alongside these instructions.

An example to follow

A horizontal swap can complete a vertical line. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Keep the controls nearby.

Pay attention to this rule

A swap making no match is reverted. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Keep the stated aim separate from side details such as animation or appearance. Progress is measured by the game’s own completion or scoring rules.
