Reaction Challenge: how a round works

Start Reaction Challenge by looking at the playing area and its controls. Finish five valid responses. An early click does not count as a completed response; start that attempt again. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Identify the playing area and the controls you need. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions.

An idea for your next attempt

Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal. Notice the feedback after each input.

The goal to keep in mind

Finish five valid responses. An early click does not count as a completed response; start that attempt again. Read that aim before choosing your first action. Review the board or playing area as it changes.

Step by step

  1. Start a round and wait without clicking.
  2. When GO appears, click or tap the large target.
  3. Read your response time and start the next round.
  4. After five rounds, the game shows the mean time.

Using the playing area

Use the on-screen controls with a mouse or touch. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Return to the rules if the result is unexpected.

Follow the example

A valid 250 ms response counts. Clicking during WAIT is too early and must be repeated. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Keep the game’s format in mind.

Check this before moving on

Browser scheduling, screen refresh and input hardware can affect the measurement. It is not a medical test. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention.
