The Sokoban playbook

Choose a round of Sokoban and settle into its rules. Push every crate onto a target. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Read the objective before making your first input. Look at what changes after your first action.

Push two crates onto their targets in compact 7×7 rooms. The starting layouts can be solved; an unhelpful push may still trap a crate.

A small practice goal

Choose one rule to keep in mind for this round. Apply it consistently rather than guessing what another version might allow. Make the next step deliberately.

Your goal

Push every crate onto a target. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Keep the controls in easy reach.

How a round unfolds

  1. Move through empty floor.
  2. Push one crate into empty space.
  3. Never pull or push two at once.
  4. Undo a deadlock and continue.

How your actions work

Arrow keys or direction buttons. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Check any mode label before starting.

A closer look at one example

A crate in a non-target corner cannot be recovered by pulling. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Keep the controls nearby.

An important reminder

Consider the player’s access behind crates. Compare the situation with the worked example. Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention.
